Truth Decay

As a society, we seem to be suffering from truth decay. Perhaps this is the one thing everyone can agree on. But we can’t agree on which dentist to go to. One reason for this, we’re looking in the wrong place. We’re looking outside of ourselves instead of inside. We’re also using the wrong tools. We’re measuring Truth by our habits, biases and traditional values, by our religious dogma, political parties, fears and hatreds. These are not Truth, they are what they are.

Truth transcends these. Truth is a deep intuitive inner knowing of the reality of our brotherhood and oneness with spirit. “If you prick me, do I not bleed?” Shakespeare said. Truth is compassion, kindness and yes, joy. All the rest cause truth decay.

Winston Churchill once said of someone, “Occasionally he stumbled over the truth, but hastily picked himself up and hurried on as if nothing had happened”. Is Churchill describing us? Truth decay is not inevitable it’s a choice, and we can make another. We can get ourselves out of the way and allow ourSelves to shine thru.

“And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” John 8:32
