“For the raindrop,

joy is entering the river.” Ghalib, Sufi Prophet

To me, this explains the calm joy I feel when I forget myself and am with mySelf.

This can and does happen in many ways, most of them spontaneous – unplanned by me; while walking the dogs and taking in the trees, writing, reading, working with others.

Up to now, that feeling hasn’t been the goal of what I’m doing, but a side effect. But now, as I reflect, I realize that that feeling really is the goal.

How to get it? By being fully present in the moment, without judgment, not thinking of the future. Kindness, mindfulness, sharing, focusing more on what we, as human beings, have in common and all yearn for – respect, appreciation, kindness. In short as Ralph Waldo Emerson said, by getting my bloated nothingness out of the way of the divine circuits I can experience the joy of the raindrop entering the river.
